ToP Facilitation Essentials (TFE) includes 11 days of study with lots of practice.
The Technology of Participation (ToP™) has been tried and tested worldwide as one of the most effective ways for getting participation and implementing solid results.
Learn how to assess the real and hidden needs of your client, hold stakeholder conversations that really get somewhere, lead workshops that generate consensus from any group, and hold meetings and design events that lead to results and that everyone wants to attend.
Learn all the competencies of the International Association of Facilitators AND ICA’s advanced competencies: create collaborative client relationships, plan appropriate group processes, create and sustain participatory environments, guide groups to appropriate and useful outcomes, build and maintain professional knowledge, and model a positive professional attitude. Learn the 5 key ToP methods. After completing the program, you will require a competency-based assessment by the IAF to become a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) or by ICA to become a Certified ToP Facilitator.
Five courses can be spread out over six months or even a year or more. Courses can be taken in any order except that Group Facilitation Methods (GFM) must be taken before Transformational Strategy (TST) and Power of Image Change (IMC).
The curriculum of the ToP Facilitation Essentials (TFE) includes:
- Group Facilitation Methods (GFM) – 2 days
- Meetings That Work (MTW) – 2 days
- Facilitating Client Collaboration (FCC) – 2 days
- Transformational Strategy (TST) – 3 days
- Power of Image Change (IMC) – 2 days
You can take the In-person (IP) classroom, Live Online (LO) scheduled online, or the Self-Directed (SD) online version of the courses. There is no Self-Directed Power of Image Change course.
The Transformational Strategy course will guide you to facilitate strategic planning with Boards, management and staff. The Meetings That Work course will show you how to hold great meetings and design retreats, think tanks and other major events. The Power of Image Change will show you how to ramp up engagement and motivation. Facilitating Client Collaboration shows the business side of facilitation and how to work with clients.
There is plenty of theory, demonstration, application, practice and feedback in all these courses.
Registration
Register and pay online for the ToP Facilitation Essentials (TFE), then select course dates when you have decided on them. Take as long as you want to complete the five. Price is CAD$6,140 plus applicable tax and reflects a 20% discount from individual courses.
When you register online for the ToP Facilitation Essentials (TFE), you will receive notification that you have joined. You will be billed with a 20% discount off the five courses.
Course Selection
You may register online for each course individually once you have selected a date for any course. We will keep track of this for you. Select a course and date and go through the normal online registration procedure. Select the “Purchase Order” option. You don’t need to add any more information. Just use the “Submit” button.
We will send you a confirmation within a day. (You don’t need to go through PayPal again. If you do, just don’t pay). We already have all the information we need.
Alternatively, you can email us with a selection of any date and course at any time. Select one each of GFM, MTW, FCC, TST and IMC. You can change dates at a later time with no penalty by emailing our Registrar at ica@ica-associates.ca

Take courses in any order, but Group Facilitation Methods must be taken before Transformational Strategy and Power of Image Change.
