*The Art and Science is included in the Professional Facilitator Program (PFP) which is endorsed by IAF and prepares you for CPF certification. It also prepares you for assessment as an ICA Certified ToP Facilitator.

This five-day intensive will dramatically improve your ability to facilitate any group more effectively, in your organization or community. Strengthen your skills and increase your confidence.

The Art & Science of Participation is for people who are serious about facilitating participation and will deepen your knowledge, enhance your ability and provide a support network with facilitators across Canada. It will be a highlight of your year.

Course details

The online course contains all the content of the classroom course, employing individual work, small group work, and sessions with the whole group. All sessions are participatory – this is not a webinar. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with trainers and other participants in the course

Required preparation before the course will take you about 4-5 hours.

Online session times: Monday – Friday.

All times Eastern Time.

9 am – 5 pm ET with 15 minute breaks midway.

Total online time is just less than 29 hours over 5 days. Total individual “homework” during the course is less than 4 hours.

We will use Zoom for shared video and audio, and Mural for visual collaboration.

All materials required for the course will be provided electronically: a complete manual, required chapters for reading from the Art of Focused Conversation and The Workshop Book, and worksheets for completing assignments. Complete books are available for direct purchase from the publishers: The Art of Focused Conversation, The Workshop Book, Getting to the Bottom of ToP.

Technology

The course is held over Zoom and Mural. Mural is an online whiteboard accessible with your browser with no need to sign in. You will need a good or high speed internet connection and a headset or earbuds.

This is for professional facilitators, for consultants who want to be more facilitative, and for anyone who is considering pursuing a career as a facilitator.

Since many facilitators must work alone this is a chance to create long lasting relationships with your peers.
